ABOUT ANDY'S PATRONS' ASSOCIATION

📌 Introduction / Purpose / Background

The Andreas Jianhai Kay (Andy) Association was founded in Zurich in 2025 to support a very special boy who defies all adversities. Andy lives with Joubert syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects his brain development, motor coordination, and daily life. Despite these challenges, Andy displays extraordinary strength, joy, and curiosity that infects everyone around him.

The purpose of the association is to enable Andy to live as independently and supported a life as possible – now and in the future. It provides financial support for therapies, medical treatments, assistive devices, daily care, and long-term life planning. It also serves as a platform for friends, supporters, and well-wishers who would like to accompany Andy on his journey.

Oliver Kay – President Andy's father and founding member.

Former managing director and entrepreneur, now fully dedicated to Andy's cause and his mission.

Kurt Widmer – Vice President

Longtime family friend with IT and golfing experience.;-) Brings deep empathy and organizational experience.

Yvonne Lang – Treasurer & Board Member

Longtime family friend and finance and compliance expert with a special commitment to social issues and inclusion. Supports the association's financial integrity and transparency.

I never imagined our lives would take such a turn. The moment we learned that our son Andy was suffering from a rare, incurable brain disease was both devastating and formative.

But Andy's smile, his incredible willpower, and the love he brings to this world have shown us a deeper meaning of life.

We founded this charitable association not out of pity, but out of hope. We hope that with enough care, support, and community, Andy can live a happy and independent life.

🧾 Non-profit status (applied)

The association was established as a non-profit organization under Swiss law and is currently in the process of obtaining tax exemption from the cantonal tax authorities of the Canton of Zurich in accordance with:

Article 56(g) of the Federal Act on Direct Federal Taxation (DBG)
Article 61(g) of the Federal Act on the Harmonization of Direct Taxes of the Cantons and Municipalities (StHG)

All funds will be used exclusively for Andy's care, well-being, and future. No profit is generated, and no administrative salaries are paid.
